Last night I fell asleep on the couch watching Big Brother After Dark which airs on Showtime on the east coast from midnight to 3 am. I’m not sure what time I fell asleep but I do know what time I woke up.
3:36am.
I was woken up by the sound of my seven year olds voice standing next to the couch. “Mommy what are you watching?” Think about the time of day it is. I open my eyes and glance over at the t.v. only to see naked bodies kissing and rubbing. Yes, soft porn.
I jump up and find the remote, hit power, and bring him back to bed.
So, today we are driving along and I’m really hoping that maybe he has forgotten what he had seen on the tv. God only knows how long he had been standing there. Well my hopes are quickly turned to fear when he asks me again what I was watching. I tell him I wasn’t watching that and I had fallen asleep earlier watching something else. I then ask him what he saw.
After much giggling and embarrassment he tells me he saw naked people rubbing against each other. Thank you Showtime. Now, would you like to explain the birds and the bees to my 7 year old, because I sure as hell am not ready for this conversation.
I tell him thats gross and end the conversation there.
Now, I am all for watching porn or whatever you gotta do to help with the deed. However…. soft porn first of all sucks. Does anybody really “get off” on it? If you want to watch porn buy or rent one. There are dedicated channels for it. Why do my movie channels that I subscribe to, specifically for the movies, need to have soft porn at all?
So, thank you again Showtime for introducing my 7 year old to sex and soft porn. I will be cancelling my subscription now.

Oh i don't think i would want to be having that talk at that age ! I know we have Showcase and on Friday nights after 11 I never turn it past that channel cause we have the same problem.
Oh no!!!! lol I totally think those kinds of shows should stay certain channels like playboy, etc. Poor kid was probably all, 'WTH?'! lol
Oh that sucks big time and I doubt he'll forget. I remember my first run in with porn on tv at a friends house and I was 6. It could have been worse right?

OMG! I know what you are talking about. We record BB AfterDark and I was watching it a few days ago and when it went off another show had come on (taped a little) OMG…..THEY SHOWED EVERYTHING and these people were going at it like rabbits. I am so glad that my kids were not in the room at the time.

I actually warned my husband 3 days ago about that. He fell asleep to something normal on Cinemax. I came down around 3 to turn the tv off and there was the soft porn on the tube!
I told him he better set the tv timer-just in case, last thing I want is my 6 or 9 yr old coming down to that, I dont think Direct TV has a channel w/ Dr. Ruth,or the other old lady (I forget her name) who tells you whats up!
Oh man! But Miss Blondie, I think you have NO choice now but to tell him that SEX IS BAD AND NEVER EVER DO IT UNTIL YOU ARE MARRIED.

Holy Crap! That would be my luck too. Dish actually offered me Showtime and Skinamax..I mean Cinemax for free for 6 months or something when I signed up with them and while yes, the movies would have been great I asked to be sure to NOT turn those channels on my television for that reason.
HBO does the same thing, and Cinemax is called Skinemax for a reason.
LMAO! I would be hoping he forgets and not goes bragging at school about what his mommy watches on TV.

oh boy. Poor Hunter. thats such a pain in ass, why couldn't they be showing infomercials or something? I agree, the movie channels we pay our cable company extra for should be strictly movies. What if I can't sleep and I really just want to watch a good movie at 3am to keep me occupied? If you catch him browsing those channels you know what he's looking for. hopefully he doesn't tell his friends! I'm so sorry this happened, set an egg timer next time your dozey on the couch
