Mythbusters Weird World of Water- Review

mythbusters

Elmers has come out with Mythbusters science kits after the Discovery Channels hit show!  These kits allow hands on, trial and error mythbusting for kids to bust the myths themselves.  Its science at its best.

We received Mythbusters Weird World of Water science exploration kit from Team Mom.  Of course, from the moment it landed on our doorstop Hunter was begging me to try it out.  When we opened the box I was surprised by all the things that were in there.  It also included an activity guide, complete with pictures, stories of Adam and Jamie, thorough instructions on each myth, and  a place to write your notes on each experiment.

Here are some of the things that were included:

  • beads
  • 3 pieces of balsa wood
  • 2 plastic one liter bottles
  • funnel
  • yellow food coloring
  • straw, and plenty more items

The Weird World of Water kit allows you to test the power of whirlpools, create a liquid rainbow, launch your own water-powered rocket, and could a man walk on water. The myth Hunter chose to do first was The Pantry Projectile.  This is launching a rocket using ingredients from your kitchen pantry.   Of course he wants to do the “rocket” experiment.  This is obviously something that needs to be done outdoors because yes this worked.  It was actually pretty neat to watch this thing take off.  It wasn’t too complicated to set up, but I did have to help him.  He had so much fun with it and was able to do it over and over again!  The only thing I didn’t like about this kit was that you did need to add some of your own items.  They were all typical household items though, so I did have them available.

Because of receiving this, Hunter has now started watching Mythbusters on Discovery Channel and added the other kits to his Christmas list.  I have to say because of the science value of these kits, I have absolutely no problem getting them for him at all.

So thank you Team Mom and Elmers for giving us this great opportunity to try this product.
