Our Night at the Circus

circus1
Just the other night, Hunter and I had the opportunity to attend the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus because of my becoming a Boston Feld Family Activator.   Before the show we were able to attend a meet and greet where we got to meet the Ringmaster Chuck Wagner and a silly clown, Pepe.  Hunter thought it was the coolest thing that he got to meet them and well, so did I.  It was great to see a room full of mostly bloggers that are local.  I didn’t know any of them before this event except for Mommy Niri, we were on the iRobot team together.

After the meet and greet we went to our seats which were ten rows back, they were awesome.  So, as I’m putting my things down and Hunter and I are settling into our seats I notice a woman in the row behind us but at the opposite end who I think looks like somebody.  I look at her family and back at her.  She looks an awful like one of my bloggy friends but I can’t really be sure.  So before I have the chance to talk myself out of completely embarrassing myself, i walk over to her.  Oh. Yes. I. Did.  I walked up to her and said, “Excuse me. Is your name Jenn?”  She looked right at me with a surprised look, smiled and said, “Oh my god!” (people always have this reaction)  Then we hugged.  It was her!  Jenn from My Life with the Crazies! Thank God it was her because I would have felt like the biggest loser for the remaining 2 hours of the show if it wasn’t.  This was my first time meeting Jenn in real life, and it was long overdue.  After intermission her family relocated their seats to the row in front of mine and our boys (who are about the same age) got along great.

Okay, so onto the show itself.  Hunter and I have been to this circus consecutively for the past 7 years.  We love to go.  So I like to consider myself an “experienced” circus go-er.  I can honestly say that this years circus, Over the Top, was probably the best one in years.  The past few years it hasn’t been that great, but this one truly made up for that.  The acts were bigger.  It was more fresh.  And the performances were “over the top.”  Some of the new acts that were amazing were performers on these big bouncing balloons that almost look like tires, but the tricks they were doing were incredible!  There was one guy who was walking upside down in the air on what looked like the monkey bars.  That was scary and amazing!  Hunter’s favorite acts were the motorcycles in the cage (no surprise, it always is), and the bubble act with Tom the clown.  It was funny.  My favorite was what I call the flower act.  It was very cirque de soleil like and just mesmerizing…it brought a new feeling to Ringling Bros.

I’m still personally not a fan of watching dogs catch a frisbee or jump through hoops and barnyard animals do tricks, but luckily for me, those were short.  So I have to say we had an amazing time and really did enjoy ourselves.  But then again, how can you not enjoy yourself at the circus??

So thank you to MomCentral and Feld Entertainment for giving us this awesome opportunity!
