I can’t sleep! It’s so frustrating because I am sooo tired. But I lay in bed for hours.
Literally.
And lately by 2am I get up and go do something…like rearrange my linen closet. Seriously, that’s great fun. But I have to get up or else i will lay there all restless and shit.
Its not like I have a lot on my mind either. Actually its quite the opposite. My mind isn’t racing with thoughts at all. Although I do get my best ideas at night, that’s not whats going on now.
For the past two weeks, I haven’t been able to fall asleep until 4am…no matter how tired I am. I’m like a walking zombie.
I’m exhausted.
I’m bitchy and cranky…so watch out.
But…my closets look fantastic!
I think I’m gonna try to drink myself to sleep, excuse me while I go get the bottle of Greygoose.

Ok look at what your eating and drinking before bedtime. Pick a time you’d like to be in bed and set a routine. ONLY water or chamomile tea about 2 hours before bed. NO COMPUTER. NO TV. Just write some ideas in a notebook or read a book. Take a bath.
I hope you can sleep hon!
thank you, i’ll try those! but i’m really thinking the Vodka might work!
I do not have problems falling asleep but maybe because I only sleep 3-4 hrs a night. Try Tylenol PM. That is what my wife takes because she gets insomnia sometimes also. I hope this gets better for you.
I’ve been having a hard time falling asleep too! I love that your all “Seriously, it’s great fun” – organizing closets. LOLOLOLOLOL You should have totally vlogged this!!!
oh believe me, if i can’t sleep tonight, i’m sure there will be a nice vlog coming out of it!!
I’m sorry! I get like that sometimes but it’s usually cause I can’t shut my brain up. I agree with Gena – have a good look at what you’re eating and drinking! HUGS!
Can you try melatonin, maybe your body isn’t producing enough?? Take a hot bath and drink some chamomile tea before you get ready to go to bed. Hmm I suck at helping LOL
you don’t suck at helping! lol! i appreciate everyone’s tips…believ me!
Hey Someone told me i should try melatonin Does this stuff really work? I am willing to try everything, I have really bad issues I can stay awake like 24 hours straight sometimes and this happens WEEKLY. I am doing good if i get 4 hours a sleep a day!
Yea, my husband takes melatonin at bedtime. It works for him…:(

Next time I’m up late & notice that you’re up, I WILL bust out the dictionary (or dictionary.com) & start posting words & their definitions for you! It will be an expirament to see how much it takes to bore an insomniac to sleep! We will succeed!
I’m so sorry to hear that you’re having trouble sleeping — thats the worst!
I’d offer advice, but it sounds like everyone’s got you covered with all the tips about eating / drinking / relaxing, etc.
All I can say is that we both live in the Boston area so call me next time you can’t sleep — my closests could really use some organzing! Hee hee
I am always an insomniac, my best friend some days is tylenol pm. Works great for me
There is something in the air lately, I’ve been having the worst insomnia too.
ah WELCOME TO my WORLD
Get your thyroid checked
Sorry to hear you are having such trouble sleeping.

I dread insomnia, I mean who really likes it or looks forward to it? That’s when I usually get some of my best ideas too.
If I didn’t have stomach issues, I’d get a bottle too.
one word. ambien. : )
Oh I feel for you…I used to be like that too. The ONLY way I can sleep now is by taking a “Simply Sleep” about 2 hours before I’m ready to sleep, then I watch tv…I finally get drowsy and poof, I’m out. Of course this may not work for everyone LOL.
I am glad you got some rest this weekend…hopefully your body will get back in a normal sleep pattern now – good luck!
As i read your post… I was reminded of a customer of mine on the central coast of California. He told me that he would lay in bed for at least three hours each night before he could fall asleep. Then, if he happened to wake up during the night to use the restroom or whatever… it would take him another two hours to fall back asleep. He was miserable.
I paint murals of the night sky (very realistic ones) that are only visible when the lights are off, and the room is dark. He lives on a guest ranch for high-profile people and while I painted the rooms there… we had the place to ourselves. When I finished painting his bedroom ceiling, I went back to enjoy the ranch with my wife and kids… but expected to see my customer later that night. He never showed. It wasn’t until the next morning that we saw him at about 10 AM. He came over to visit us and told me that he had laid down under the night sky (I’d blacked out the windows to show him the mural during the day and left them blacked out) at about 5 PM the evening before to enjoy the view of the night sky in his room… but had fallen asleep within about 20 minutes. He then said that he woke up at about midnight, used the restroom and then went back to bed. After looking into the night sky mural again… he fell right back to sleep. Then, at 5 AM, when he normally woke up, the other workers on the ranch didn’t see him. They looked everywhere for him… but he was still in bed sleeping (He said that he never used an alarm because he always woke up at 5 AM). Well, he told us that he’d slept in until 8 AM, something that he had never done before. And, he was amazed at how easy it was for him to fall asleep the night before.
I heard back from him about a month after painting the mural for him… and he said that he was still falling asleep really easily.
Now, to you… you don’t need to get a professional mural painted… but you might want to try putting up some of those cheesy stick-on stars so that you can focus on something while in bed. I have to listen to some kind of talk radio at night so that i can focus and let my mind relax. If talk radio isn’t for you… then maybe you can go for some nature sounds or something like that to go with the plastic stars. Or, look into someone painting your ceiling for you. They are very relaxing and there are people all over who can do it. some, much better than others. You can even have a small poster-sized painting done (which you can stick up on your ceiling) that will look like a window into space.
Anyway… this is a story of how the night sky murals helped one insomniac (actually the murals have helped many), but there may be something totally different that will work for you. Good luck!
Jeff
