Safety Tat- Giveaway

What could be worse than being in a crowded mall at Christmas time and losing your child?  Luckily, I have never been the victim of this, however I did lose Hunter at a parade once.  It was only for about a minute, but it was the scariest minute of my life.  I thought for sure I would never find him.  We were at the South Boston St. Paddy’s day parade…thousands of people, and he got separated from me.  He actually had turned around, didn’t see me and walked around the crowd and ended up behind me.  He was standing right behind my friend who found him after I turned to her, completely panicked and crying.  It only takes a second to lose a child.

That’s where SafetyTat comes in.  As parents we try to take any measure we can to keep our kids safe.  And we usually tell them to find a police officer or security guard if they get lost.   Personally, I recommend telling them to find a woman with little kids…much more sympathetic.   Ok, anyways, SafetyTat’s are temporary tattoos that can be placed on your child (preferably the arm) with your cell phone number in case they get lost.  The idea behind it is in my mind revolutionary.  Instead of your child saying to that security guard, ” my mommy is wearing a pink shirt…i think, ” because really how well do kids actually know what their parents are wearing, they can show them their arm and say, “that’s my mommy’s number.”  You would be reconnected with your child probably just as quickly as they were gone.

I absolutely love this idea and really honest to goodness wish I had them when Hunter was younger.  When we got them and I told him about the concept and how they would help  him if he got lost, he immediately wanted me to put them on him.  Coincidentally it was Halloween.  We got the Quick Stick Write-On Tats which comes with its own marker, and I was able to write my number on it.

Here’s a picture of Hunter showing his off:

The SafetyTats are waterproof, so genius if you are at a water park or any type of amusement park.  He slept with it on and the very next day it was in the same condition as when i put it on him.  I was able to easily peel it off, like a bandaid.  I can’t even say enough of what a great safety product this is for children. This goes on my list of highly recommended safety products for children.

These safety tats are awesome and I know my daughter would wear them as she’s obsessed w/ temporaray tattoos! LOL

Knock on wood I have never officially lost Isabella, but she’s always on the run and takes off on me in 1/2 second flat — she’s only two, but seriously she moves like a marathon runner! About 1 1/2 months ago I was in a kids second hand store and we were the only ones in there so I let her play with a toy right next to me and I looked away for one second and looked back down and she was GONE! Seriously, my heart stopped and I was literally on all fours on the ground searching for her and freaking out — complete panick took over me! After about 1 minute I found her in the back corner of the store playing with the other toys, but oh my god I thought I was going to die from a heart attack! The store door was shut and never opened (it had a bell signal), but I still was so upset. For days I felt like the worst mother in the world! :(

Anyways, if you could please enter me in this contest I would appreciate it — thank you!! :)

    P.S.
We just recently moved out of Southie (we lived on the parade route) so I know exactly what you mean when you say that parade was mobbed w/ people — its a fun parade, but definitely crazy & rowdy!! LOL

  2. Wow I could definitely use this! This past summer my 2 year old wondered off at the lake and I was in a panic..thank God someone brought him back to me after a couple of minutes…with 4 kids that was a first!

I lost Keegan in my own backyard. He climbed through the fence. I had a heart attack.

I lost Lochlan at my in laws. Seriously. we all went outside, he stayed inside. They went back in to get him and said he wasn’t there. Huh? I ran to the pool, ran around the house, ready to knock on neighbor doors. He was in the house. Stupid inlaws. Sigh.

I would hate to lose my kids in public. Tats like these rock.

Oh those are really interesting. There have been times where my 5 year old has just simply been around the corner of a store, or standing behind his father and I’ll have a slight panic attack that I can’t find him. But thankfully he hasn’t been lost yet. I think I’d cry my eyes out for a year if that ever happened.

I had my 3 boys at the Space Museum. I turned around and Nathan was still playing at the same exhibit, but Gabriel was gone. I was alone, trying to watch 3 boys and had to leave 2 to search for the 3rd. The place was a big circle labyrinth and I was starting to panic. I think he was gone for 5 mins. I started crying and then an employee took me to the center and radioed the others to lock down the building. It was then that I saw Gabriel go running across the balcony upstairs!

He had left me and gone upstairs to the childrens play area.

I had never been so scared in my life and immediately started crying with relief.

I have had my eye on the safety tats for a while. I think they are brilliant.

    I have 2 grown sons…
and I had this horrifying experience with both of them!
The oldest we had just gotten home from a long day at the museum, my cousin was visiting & we went by bus, hubby was working. We got home and I had put him down to change his diaper from the long ride home and hubby came home… I got distracted and #1 son went to meet daddy… only daddy didn’t see him & he walked out the back door! I called the police, a girl in the neighborhood said he saw him with a big man!! she was lying, which makes it worse.. the police showed up not to long later, somehow he walked across a foot bridge over the expressway to a school playground, we had Never been there before! He wanted to play basketball with some big boys he saw… he could barely talk yet!!
at least it was a good out come & safe… but terrifying…

I would send these to that same son for my 2 grandsons, so it will be easier for them to get help! Hopefully it is never needed.

thanks for the info & giveaway, Blondie!

  11. I would use these when we take our kids to the park. Gets pretty busy in the summertime!

  12. This is a GREAT idea. My kids are old enough where they wouldn’t need them, but we have a whole batch of nephews that could really use these.

  13. Heather says:

My child is only 2 and I’m lucky to have never lost or even been close to losing her but it’s one of my greatest fears and I never feel comfortable having her in a crowded place. I’d love to win.

  15. I would use these if we went to a park or anywhere I knew my kids would be running around with me not so close by.

Oooh! I saw these on Lee’s show where she interviewed the owner of the company and I’ve been wanting to try them since.

My daughter is always running off in crowded stores. I turn around and… gone. It looks terrible to put one of those kid leashes on her. We own one, but I can’t bring myself to use it. I just have to be hypervigilant with her and often times I just take the stroller since she’ll still sit in it. She’s almost four though and I know that’s just a temporary solution. I’d love to have the Safety Tats to take to Disney World in January. Just to be on the safe side. T

Thanks so much for the the chance.

I have yet to lose my child. I am sure it is solely due to the fact that she is only 8 months old. I think these safetytats are a great idea and hopefully with them, I may be spared the horror of losing her. They would be awesome at an amusement park, especially Disney next year!
