The Lunch Date

I know you’re all dying to hear the juicy details from yesterdays dates.  First, as predicted, I only went on one.  One that lasted a lot longer than i had anticipated.  It was the lunch date, we’ll call him Matchboy 1.  We met a little later than we originally planned, we met at 3:30 and didn’t leave until just about 8pm.   We met at a sports bar so we could eat and have drinks.  The conversation flowed as did the beers!  I was super nervous about this date which is unusual for me but i think it was because of meeting him online.  I mean, this is all new to me, so I guess I’m just a little weary and cautious.

But once I got there and we started talking I was fine. Oh and he opened doors for me.  Points! Yes of course I notice these things.  I have a checklist in my head of what guys should be doing when i’m on dates.  He was very easy to talk to and I was comfortable around him.  He’s a year younger than me (no biggie) and we have a lot in common.  We have the same sense of humor so we were able to laugh and joke a lot.  So yeah, we definitely hit it off.  He was having friends over his place later and did invite me to come back to hang out but I decided it probably wasn’t such a good idea.  Especially since Hunter was at his friends house and I purposely didn’t shave my legs. At the end of the date, i went to the bathroom and while i was there he picked up the tab.  Points again.  So he walked me to my car, gave me a hug, and gave me a kiss.  It was just a couple lip pecks.

As I’m driving home, i get a smiley face text message from him.  Cute.  I got a couple other cute texts from him and another one about he’s never dated a girl with a kid before and not that he’s against it, just wanted me to know where he’s coming from.  In other words….he’s not used to chicks that can’t just come over and hang out whenever.  So today, he invited me over to his house for a Superbowl party.  Again, i couldn’t find a sitter…it seems to be happening a lot to me lately.  Normally, i have no problems getting one but of course now that I want to go out on dates, I can’t find one to save my life!  So no go on the Superbowl party for me.  He seemed a little disappointed BUT if I’m worth it to him, he’ll wait.  So we made plans for a date next Sunday.  Cross your fingers that I get a sitter.

Meanwhile, date number two, who we’ll call Matchboy 2,  didn’t call until like 9:30.  He had gone snowboarding all day and I knew it was probably unlikely that we would hang out, so i told him maybe Thursday night.  And this guy, lives like right across the street from me too.  Not even kidding!  We also grew up in the same town, went to the same high school, he’s also a year younger than I am, so I’m looking forward to our date as well.  Whats with me and the younger guys??  Oh well, whatever works right?

So date number one off Match was a success.  How weird is it that the first date you go on from a dating website you actually hit it off?  Don’t worry, I’m not putting all my eggs into one basket…i still plan on keeping all options open and going on more dates!

Glad to hear it went so well! Matching personalities is always a good sign.

Correct me if I’m confused…are you dating two guys at the same time? Or were those 2 different dates with the same guy? I’m easily confused.

I’m glad it wasn’t a disaster. I hope that the next one works out well too. Although it’s creepy having a guy you met on a dating site living across the street from you. :P

Maybe you will find your true match Blondie. Good luck. :)

Congrats! It sounds like he’s a really great guy – and if not, you’ve already got another one lined up. I’ve never done online dating, so I’m interested to see how the rest of it goes for you. Good luck!

I am so glad it went so well for you. YEA!!! He sounds like a winner. He texted you after the date, thats a huge PLUS. I always think about the book “He’s Just Not That Into You” and if the guys are doing the opposite of the men in that book, they are good guys.

BTW Jason’s godmother is marrying the first date she had off of Match.com
